Delicious Schramsberg Because I Ran the Grand Canyon

This past Friday, 19 of my friends, colleagues and I ran either 25 (ish) miles, or 50 (ish) miles through the Grand Canyon.

We did it for the Doernbecher Childhood Cancer Survivorship Program, aiming to raise $1,000 for every mile- $47,800 total. I am so grateful to contribute to this program. They’re the largest in the region and rely solely on donations to help childhood cancer survivors navigate their teenage years and beyond. I don’t know about you, but teenage years felt hard enough to me in good health. The emotional, educational and physical support that Doernbecher provides its patience is vital.

It felt surreal to come home Sunday. This project has (rightfully) taken the bulk of my free time over the past few months. I almost didn’t know what to do with myself.

Then I remembered that it was time to pop Champagne and celebrate an amazing accomplishment with some of the best people I know.

Schramsberg! So yummy. Breezy bubbles, melon and pineapple on the palate. We enjoyed it with slow cooked pork and brussels sprouts, but I can also see this Blanc de Blancs rocking out with steak, or a cheesy casserole. It’s great because it’s not too overwhelming. I found it at Trader Joe’s for about $23, so I deem it a solid bubbler for when you feel like celebrating a little bit.
